Meyboom - Brussels folklore

Each year on the 9th August since 1213, the Meyboom has been planted in Brussels. The Meyboom (a tree) is felled early in the day in the Forest de Soignes. It is carried to Brussels via several watering holes. It is due in the Grand Place at 14:45. Then it is carried to Rue de Sables where it is “planted”.

See http://be.brussels/culture-tourism-leisure/brussels-folklore/meyboom for more of the history.

Let’s meet in the Grand place at 14:30 to observe this eccentric part of Brussels folklore.

There will be plenty of opportunities for liquid refreshment.

SO’s and offspring welcome.
